Notes | "A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 10% Mourvèdre, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Maclura was still aging in vat during my June visit. It features outstanding aromas of crushed stone, violets, cherries and raspberries, but it remains a bit tight and tart on the medium-bodied palate; more élevage certainly seems as if it will be beneficial. The wine finishes lively and long." (Wine Advocate) Drink 2020-2025. | |||
Additional Notes "A pleasant whiff of barnyard lends savory tones of earth and animal to crisp blackberry and plum flavors. It's an opulent, slightly warming wine with a plummy, voluminous mouthfeel that's vibrantly balanced by fresh acidity. The finish is moderately long, lingering on hints of sun-dried thyme, lavender and grippy tannins. Enjoy now–2025." (Wine Enthusiast) |
