---|---|---|---|---|
Varietal | Assyrtiko | |||
Region | Greece: Santorini | |||
Notes | "Very creamy, with flavors of ripe pear, baked apple, butter and spice. Open-textured, offering notes of mocha and dried herb on the finish. Drink now through 2018. 4,200 cases made." (Wine Spectator) "This is a stony, mineral, lemony and slightly sweet, with a broad, round texture and herbal hints. It's the sort of white that will match most anything from the garden or the sea." (Wine & Spirits Magazine) | |||
Additional Notes "The 2013 Santorini is all Assyrtiko, un-oaked and coming in at 13.5% alcohol. Showing nice mouthfeel, reasonable concentration and a certain, toasty nuance that I rather liked, this has a somewhat darker and more burnished feel than some, but ultimately drinks well - a nice performance in this vintage. Well-constructed, it finishes with a bang, with grip and tension on the finish. Focused and sometimes intense, this is still mostly an understated Santorini that is more persistent than it first seems. It fleshed out nicely with air and performed well overall. Sourced from 40-to 50-year-old vines, there were 4,200 cases produced. Drink now-2021." (Wine Advocate) |
