So This Just Happened: Fresh New Arrivals!

With warmer weather approaching it's time for some fresh new wines to hit our shelves. This week we have some exciting offerings for you. Let's go!

Georg Albrecht Schneider Sauvignon Blanc Trocken 2018 (Rheinhessen, Germany)

Jeff Rense & Dr. Joseph Chiappalone

We know what you're thinking, Sauvignon Blanc from Germany? YES. This is actually the second dry Sauvignon Blanc from Germany we'll be stocking and it's like drinking sunshine is a glass. It also happens to be high scoring with a Best Buy designation. If you like the sound of white grapefruit with super fresh acidity, this wine is your new bestie.

"Zippy white grapefruit and crisp yellow-plum flavors are highlighted by a zesty mineral backdrop in this dry piercing Sauvignon Blanc. It's a great value find marked by a thrilling bite of lime and delicate flash of green pepper on the finish." (Wine Enthusiast)

Azienda Santa Barbara Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi (DOC) 2018 (Marche, Italy)

Azienda Santa Barbara Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi (DOC) 2018 (Marche, Italy)

Wow, wow, wow. This is a great little wine brought to you by beloved importer Kermit Lynch. At less than $12/bottle after discount, this wine is a real gem. Roast chicken anyone? YUM.

"This traditional Verdicchio - as green and crisp as it sounds - is vinified in cool, stainless-steel tanks and bottled with the gentlest spritz of naturally occurring carbon dioxide to minimize sulfur use. If bitter lime notes from more familiar grapes like Grüner Veltliner and coastal Vermentino appeal to you, this low-alcohol, youthful bianco will readily rinse your palate clean and complement delicate fare like crudo and Meyer lemon risotto. Its subtle, chalky texture that reminds me of much pricier French Chablis." (Importer's Notes)

$14.99/bottle or $143.90/12 pack case ($11.99/bottle)

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018 (Marlborough, New Zealand)

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018 (Marlborough, New Zealand)

Fans of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc rejoice. This one is ripe and round and ready for sipping on the deck.

"This offers a complex take on fruit-driven sauvignon style with fresh limes and lemons, as well as peaches on offer and there's a succulent wrap of smooth-textured fruit to close." (James Suckling)

James Suckling: 92 points

"The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is on the tropical end of the spectrum, with hints of guava, pineapple and nectarine—a real fruit bowl. It's medium-bodied and silky in texture, with a long, flavorful finish." (Wine Advocate)

Henri Dosnon Champagne Brut Selection NV (Champagne, France)

Henri Dosnon Champagne Brut Selection NV (Champagne, France)

Now this is exciting! First of all, to find an outstanding "grower" Champagne at this price is unusual. Small production, hand-harvested and absolutely stunning. At less than $35/bottle after discount you should scoop this one up by the case. This wine hasn't been affected by any tariffs so yay for that!

"Mostly Pinot Noir, with 10 percent Chardonnay, this brisk wine has the fresh red blush of apple skins. Its malic acidity adds tension and length to the flavors, which benefit from enough dosage to feel generous, the red fruit and toasted hazelnut savor lasting with a lingering buzz of energy." (Wine & Spirits Magazine)

"This harmonious version is bright, with tangy acidity enlivening the flavors of cantaloupe, star fruit, pastry cream and lemon preserves. Offers a chalk-tinged undertow and a spiced finish that lingers." (Wine Spectator)

Perrini Negroamaro 2017 (Puglia, Italy)

Perrini Negroamaro 2017

This everyday red wine is a real quaffer and it's made with organically grown grapes. Bonus!

"Made with organically farmed fruit, the Perrini 2017 Negroamaro offers firmness in terms of mouthfeel and texture but more fragility in terms of its aromas. The bouquet conjures wild cherry and rose petal with some savory spice, tar and smoke at the back." (Wine Advocate)

Cantine Valpane Rosso Pietro Barbera del Monferrato 2017 (Piedmont, Italy)

Cantine Valpane Rosso Pietro Barbera del Monferrato 2017 (Piedmont, Italy)

"Deep, rich aromas of blackberry, plum, coffee and spice introduce this polished red. The palate has hints of spices and black cherry with a clean, firm finish. There is no fining or filtration of this wine, and only indigenous yeasts are used. A dark garnet robe leads to a deep, earthy fruit nose and a palate loaded with bright, spicy Barbera fruit and smooth tannins followed by a deliciously perfumed finish." (Winemaker's Notes) Imported by Kermit Lynch.

$16.99/bottle or $163.10/12 pack case ($13.59/bottle)

Gigondas used to be a less expensive alternative to Châteauneuf-du-Pape but that changed quite some time ago. Gigondas now rivals Châteauneuf prices. We were surprised to uncover this gem. At less than $24/bottle after discount we think you'll be impressed.

Domaine de Durban Gigondas 2018 (Southern Rhône Valley, France)

Domaine de Durban Gigondas 2018

"Gigondas boasts a wide range of terroirs that give birth to a surprising diversity of styles. Durban's vineyard on the limestone upper slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail tends toward a high-flying, pure style." (Winemaker's Notes) A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. An excellent VALUE in Gigondas!

$29.99/bottle or $287.90/12 pack case ($23.99/bottle)
