Hanging With Harley B: Tastes Great For Less Money

My parents are always giving me assignments because I'm a working dog and it makes me really happy to have both a task and a purpose. This time they asked me to write a manifesto and share it with you.

Here I am burning the midnight oil writing my manifesto. Don't worry. I had a big nap that afternoon so I still had lots of energy!

Hanging With Harley B is my blog about value wines. It seems like everyone wants value these days, whether a wine is $10 or $100. Value to me means the wine is inherently enjoyable and it OVERDELIVERS for its price. My parents write about the more expensive and complicated wines while my job is to focus on wines under $15.

My new motto is: TASTES GREAT FOR LESS MONEY.

Today I have two completely off-the-radar wines for you. In fact, they are so off-the-radar I had to ask Mom and Dad for help again.

It's no secret my parents absolutely love Italian wine so I wanted to find something which would impress them. Talk about a tall order for a little brown dog!

But I did it!!!! Can you believe it?!?

Nap for Harley
That sure was a lot of work. Now I need a nap!

Giancarlo Ceci Winery

In the surroundings of Andria in the Puglia region, near Bari in Apulia, at an altitude of 250 meters, lies the farm Giancarlo Ceci. The vineyards are situated just above the famous Italy boot on the Adriatic Sea, an area which is perfectly suited for the production of fine wines. For eight generations and 200 years, the Ceci family has cultivated the land with the greatest respect for nature and traditions.

Giancarlo Ceci Parco Grande Castel del Monte Rosso (DOC) 2014 Giancarlo Ceci Parco Grande Castel del Monte Rosso (DOC) 2014

Wow, I can't even pronounce that. I'll have to add Italian language lessons to my list of things to do when I get bigger!

The Castel del Monte DOC appellation takes the name from the famous castle built in honor of Emperor Federico II. I had personally never heard of this appellation. What about you?

This delicious red wine is a blend of 70% Uva di Troia, 10% Aglianico and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. You don't get to say that every day.

It's lip-smacking good.

This red wine has an intense and complex nose with fruity notes of bitter orange and cherries under alcohol, together with spicy sensations of cinnamon and fresh hints of mint. Ideal with soup, pasta with ragu sauce, lasagna, meat and aged cheeses.

Hmmmm. Ragu sauce anyone?

It's luscious in all the right places.

Just take one velvety rich sip and you'll be thrilled with the pleasant smooth finish!

$13.99/bottle or $134.30/12 pack case ($11.19/bottle) or just $11.19/bottle in a mixed case of wine.

Giancarlo Ceci Panascio Bombino Bianco (DOC) 2015Giancarlo Ceci Panascio Bombino Bianco (DOC) 2015

The Bombino Bianco is one of the most ancient and cultivated grapes of Southern Italy, especially Puglia. The nose is delicate and fruity with hints of green apple and white peach. One whiff and you'll smell flowery notes of jasmine and wild flowers.

Speaking of which, this wine makes me want to romp around in a field of flowers! Pleeeaassseee.

The palate is fresh with a long, pleasant, minerally finish, typical of Bombino Bianco from the Alta Murgia territory. Ideal as an aperitif, or with light courses such as shellfish, grilled or fried fish and soups.

An off-the-radar sleeper.

$13.99/bottle or $134.30/12 pack case ($11.19/bottle) or just $11.19/bottle in a mixed case of wine.

Stop by, call the store, or press reply to this email to reserve your wine.
