Today's offering is rather unusual. Not just because it's a GREAT VALUE (we offer these to you all the time, as you know). And it isn't because this red wine is literally PACKED with points (which it is -- CRAZY POINTS, in fact, for its price!!!).

We like to think this wine is a great value because it's RIDICULOUSLY QUAFFABLE, eminently tasty, and a SLAM DUNK favorite of the Wine Advocate. What's even more startling is this wine sells for under $10/bottle every day before discount.

In our books this makes this a very SPECTACULAR DEAL indeed!

You heard us right. Today's offering sells for less than $10/bottle before discount. My goodness! Even we are a little surprised by the quality of this quaffer. So, let's jump into the deep end of the pool and get things going right away. We know you won't want to wait any longer for this wine.

2014 Penya Cotes Catalanes

This proprietary dry red table wine is an IGP Cotes Catalanes from the Languedoc-Roussillon appellation in France. It's brought into the country by one of our very favorite value-priced importers, Hand Picked Selections.

Dan Kravitz is the genius behind Hand Picked Selections. A few years back we went on a wine buying trip to Southern France with a small and somewhat rowdy group of top wine buyers in the country whom Dan hand-selected from the West Coast to the East Coast. All in all, there were around 30 of us, including his key regional sales reps throughout the United States. As we travelled through Provence, the Southern Rhone Valley and the Languedoc-Roussillon the stories from our trip only grew in size.

One of the places we visited on this wine buying trip was Penya, a pet project of Dan's. As you can see, they sure did put on a spread! We have never had aioli better than at this very table. It was like a fluffy cloud of ethereal goodness, hand-whipped by the locals working at the winery.

And now back to the wine.

Cases de Pene is a tiny village in the Roussillon region of Southern France, just 30 miles north of the Spain. Ceded to France in the mid 17th century, the area is still known as "French Catalonia". Dan celebrates this heritage with the Catalan spelling of the ancient Château and village cooperative: "Penya".

We think this red wine just might knock your socks off:

"Also terrific, the ruby/purple 2014 Côtes Catalanes (52% Grenache, 36% Carignan and the rest Syrah, aged all in tank) offers lots of kirsch and darker berry fruit, spring flowers, pepper and violet notes to go with a medium-bodied, supple, forward, lively feel. Like the 2013, this is a rocking value to drink over the coming couple of years.

This wine can be enjoyed with a variety of everyday foods including pizza, pasta and burgers, as well as Mediterranean classics like ratatouille, cassoulet and stuffed tomatoes. It's also excellent served slightly chilled with fish!

At less than $8/bottle we suggest you indulge (responsibly, of course) while the wine still lasts. We have our first shipment in stock already. Once this initial drop has evaporated we'll be bringing in at least one more pass of this wine, provided it's still in the warehouse of the wholesaler. This means if you don't get some on the first drop we'll start a waiting list for the second drop. After that, who knows?

We are limiting orders to one case per customer on the first pass. After that sells out, you can place a special order with us and we'll do our best to fill as many cases as you would like. Those will ship the first week of August. No guarantees as to how much we can obtain, but you might as well dream big and we'll do our best to lock down orders as quickly as possible.
