Notes | With all the attention paid to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, it’s easy to overlook the red wines of Austria. American importer Terry Theise has this to say: “The other of the hip red varieties is called ZWEIGELT. Rolls right off the tongue, eh? Well it rolls right off my tongue and down my happy throat, because at its best this is oh-so-drinkable.” And quaffable. This has the bright, juicy cherry notes of Gamay/Beaujolais with a wisp of Syrah-like smoke. JG | |||
