Varietal | Cote-de-Brouilly
Region | France: Burgundy - Beaujolais
Notes | "Vivid ruby. Red berry liqueur, floral and incense aromas, along with hints of allspice, licorice and smoky minerals. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant raspberry, cherry, spicecake and lavender flavors that deepen and become spicier with air. Smoothly balances richness and finesse and closes with strong, mineral-driven intensity, subtle tannins and excellent length." (Vinous) "Very plush, smooth and supple with a flinty edge. Has a palate with a smooth, succulent and juicy mouthfeel. A really fresh and gently spicy finish." (James Suckling)
Additional Notes "The 2016 Cote de Brouilly was cropped at 52 hectoliters per hectare and undergoes carbonic maceration. There is something gentle and understated on the nose at first, and then it gradually opens with red cherries, crushed strawberry and hints of orange blossom. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, very good depth and cohesion with a natural, refined, lightly spiced finish that will have you immediately beckoning for another sip. Excellent—this is even better than the 2015." (Wine Advocate) "Old vines and 10 months in wood have given this wine both concentration and great elegance. Ripe berry fruits have been smoothed by hints of toast, balanced acidity and ripe tannins. Drink this wine from mid-2018." (Wine Enthusiast) |
