Moccagatta 2011 (Italy: Piedmont) (ID# 2112)

Name Moccagatta 2011 (ID# 2112)
Varietal Barbaresco (DOCG)
Region Italy: Piedmont
Notes "This is rich and saturated, with cherry, leather, tobacco and forest aromas and flavors. Forward and balanced toward the fruit and lush texture, which hides the tannins for now. Fine length. Best from 2016 through 2026. 375 cases made." (Wine Spectator)

Additional Notes

"Tight and pleasantly streamlined, the 2011 Barbaresco is a fantastic expression that hits a chord that veers towards a modern style, yet is still firmly rooted in Nebbiolo tradition. Soft cherry, leather, tobacco and tar rise from the glass and wine is smooth and richly textured on the close. This Barbaresco is almost ready to drink on release. Drink: 2015-2021." (Wine Advocate) "The 2011 Barbaresco is a pretty, deeply spiced wine endowed with lovely depth and volume. Cinnamon, cloves, menthol and dark red cherries flesh out in a supple, radiant Barbaresco to drink now and over the next few years. This is a very pretty wine in its class. Over the last year the 2011 has begun to lose some of the pure appeal it showed last year, suggesting it is on a relatively fast track of evolution. That is of course not too big of an issue for a wine meant to be enjoyed upon release, but something readers should keep in mind." (Antonio Galloni, Vinous)
