Looking Behind the Label: A Most Unusual Sauvignon Blanc
Margerum Wine Company makes handcrafted wines which are truly indicative of the place in which they are grown. Their wines have incredible personality with highly individual characteristics.
In fact, Margerum is a small production winery so dedicated to their craft they hand stamp ALL of their bottles with an individual number on the label. This caught our attention immediately. This is a rare sensation.
In other words, Margerum Sybarite is the antithesis of mass production.
Their Sauvignon Blanc is blended from four top vineyard sites. The result is a wine with remarkable complexity, texture, persistence, and length. It all works because Margerum Sybarite starts with the right fruit.
Margerum is produced in the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, one of the newest and smallest American viticultural areas in California. It's so tiny the area is roughly one-tenth the size of Napa Valley. Yet, it's already making a big impact in the wine world.
When our tasting panel opened the bottle, Kevin said he loved its ripeness and acidity. Brion said, “This isn't your every day Sauvignon Blanc. It's diverse and complex.”
Small production. Artisanal. Unique. Handcrafted. What's not to like?
