Four New Italians To Love
We absolutely adore the arrival of new Italian wines. Today we have four delicious beauties for your consideration.
Villa Angoris Ribolla Gialla 2011
"Minerality and Elegance Since the 13th Century."
Those very two things are definitely in this bottle! This white has fleshy, rich, tingly acidity and minerality along with flavors of fresh melon and golden delicious apples. The finish is long and elegant.
What's not to love about this fruit and mineral-driven wine with fresh citrus and herb aromas? It has beautiful orchard fruit flavors with an undertone of spiciness. Ribolla Gialla is usually pretty expensive, but this one is a great representation at a very reasonable price. A nice fresh find indeed!
$15.99/bottle or $76.75/6 pack case ($12.79/bottle) or just $12.79/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
Tavignano Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2011
It could be said Verdicchio is the thinking person's Pinot Grigio.
Refreshing citrus fruits, playful acidity and complex minerality are the hallmarks of this varietal and, when well-made, it's one of the best whites in the Mediterranean world. This delicious Italian white has aromas of fresh fruit, green apple, tropical fruit, brush flowers, hay, and sweet almond. This is a typical Verdicchio with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It's succulent and round in the mouth. Serve with appetizers, fish and shellfish.
$12.99/bottle or $124.70/12 pack case ($10.39/bottle) or just $10.39/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
And now we have two easy-going Tuscan blends for everyday drinking.
