"Everything In All The Right Places"
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Powerhouse

The other evening we had dinner at the Wequassett Resort at 28 Atlantic. That morning we had a storm which left us without power for a few hours, yet the early evening turned into a stunning vista of glassy still water with shades of pink sunset spilling in every direction.

Wequassett

The view was unparalleled and the wine was exceptional. We ordered a bottle of Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-Du-Pape 2016 for the table. Much to our delight and surprise, on Monday morning we discovered there were still 15 cases available in MA so we jumped on it.

The wine critics agree, across the board, that this gorgeous wine is a worthy investment

Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-Du-Pape 2016

Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-Du-Pape 2016 "Leading off the Châteauneuf-du-Papes, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a gem that's loaded with notions of ripe strawberries, kirsch, garrigue, and spice. It has everything in the right places, a layered, elegant profile, moderate tannins, and impeccable balance. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years." (Jeb Dunnuck)

"Savory notes of clove and leather add nuance to the rich fruit of the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape. It's full-bodied, creamy, lush, plump with red berries and stone fruit and remains fresh and fruit-driven through the long finish. It should drink well for a decade or more. Drink 2018-2030." "A silky, elegant style, with pretty raspberry and damson plum coulis notes gliding through, supported by soft red licorice and rooibos tea accents. The fruit gains depth through the anise-tinged finish." (Wine Spectator)

"Expressive raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied flowers and white pepper. Silky, sweet and lively on the palate, offering juicy red fruit and floral pastille flavors and a subtle touch of bitter chocolate. Shows very good clarity and finishing lift, sneaky tannins and suave, floral-driven persistence." (Josh Raynolds, Vinous)
