Dinanstia Vivanco Rioja Crianza 2008 made Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2011 list. It was THE top-ranked Rioja on this prestigious list, and one of only seven Spanish wines to make the top flight.
But that's not why you should drink this wine.
Vivanco Crianza is a wine made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes selected from among the winery’s own 300 hectares of vineyards in the many zones of the Rioja region.
You will immediately notice the unique shape of the bottle. The family modeled it after the shape of a bottle found in the family’s museum dating back to the 18th century when each glass bottle was still individually crafted by a skilled glass blower. The design was chosen to reflect the ancient history of Rioja wine.

“The 2008 Dinastia Vivanco Crianza is made from 100% Tempranillo and aged for 16 months in French and American oak. Balsam wood, tobacco, cinnamon, clove, violets, and black fruit aromas lead to a ripe, sweetly-fruited, nicely proportioned Crianza that is likely to blossom for another 1-2 years and drink well through 2020. Dinastia Vivanco has been flying under the radar screen but with a new importer on board, it is highly likely that their wine will receive greater exposure.” (Wine Advocate)
