A Pair of Delicious Pinot Grigios
Today's offering just may change your mind about Pinot Grigio. Often considered to be a neutral and unassuming grape variety, Pinot Grigio is often found on restaurant wine lists precisely because it pairs with nearly everything.
Having said that, finding Pinot Grigio with balanced acidity and minerality can be a challenging task. We found two Pinots we would be proud to serve at home. Both would be excellent on the holiday table, or just for sipping as an aperitif.
Abbazia di Novacella Pinot Grigio 2011 (Trentino/Alto Adige, Italy)
"This shows amazing purity of aromas, with undercurrents of flint, white pepper, lemon mousse and fresh peach. The mouthfeel is loaded with soft honey and melon." (Wine Enthusiast)

Santi Sortesele Pinot Grigio 2011 (Veneto, Italy)
With a pale straw color and delicate green tints, the wine has full and complex aromas of pears, exotic fruits and wild flowers. On the palate, the wine has generous, soft but lively fruit with firm flavors, good acidity and a long finish. The wine has fine structure, captivating to the nose and very satisfying on the palate.
"Bright green grape flavors of quince float on this wine's pillowy texture, a clean simple Pinot Grigio for aperitifs." (Wine & Spirits Magazine)
