For An Impressive Wine Seminar With Dave Bove of Vineyard Brands
At
Mooncussers Tavern
86 Sisson Rd, Harwich Port, MA 02646
We're very excited to be hosting this event at the highly respected restaurant Mooncussers that earned a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor. Chef Mason Pryme and his team have prepared a fantastic menu including a cheese course to pair with the Champagne and white wines, as well as beef carpaccio, duck infused sliders and dry chorizo arancini to pair with the big reds.
Here's a sneak peak of just a few of the wines that will be featured for this blockbuster wine tasting seminar:
We'll be kicking off the afternoon with one of our very favorite Champagnes that has a level of finesse certain to make your head spin. There is no better way to celebrate a special occasion than with this brilliant sparkling wine.
Delamotte Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
92 points Wine Advocate
"The NV Blanc de Blancs Brut is a 100% stainless steel-fermented Chardonnay sourced in the grand cru villages of Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger and Cramant that spends up to five years on the lees in bottle. It shows deep, clear, fresh and aromatic fruit on the nose, intertwined with chalky flavors typical for this part of the Côte des Blancs. On the palate, this is a round, very elegant, beautifully pure and mineral yet well-concentrated Blanc de Blancs with a stimulatingly fruity and mouth-filling if not succulent finish structured by very fine chalky tannins. This lush and perfectly balanced Brut shows a remarkably fine mousse and drinks perfectly today, but it can be cellared for up to 6 years to gain more complexity." (11/2017)
We'll be heading south from Champagne to the Loire Valley to taste a delightful shellfish-friendly Muscadet, an unctuous Vouvray (made from Chenin Blanc) and a Pouilly-Fumé from one of the region's most legendary producers. Plus, there's this gorgeous white wine:
Domaine Vincent Delaporte Sancerre 2016
90 Points Wine Spectator
"Steely, with lemon pith, gooseberry and fleur de sel notes streaking over a flinty spine. An echo of lemon curd in the background adds nice contrast."
Now it's time for the beef carpaccio, duck infused sliders and dry chorizo arancini to be served because the five big French reds are ready to shine.
If the undisputed king of Southern Rhône reds is Châteauneuf-du-Pape, then the queen must certainly be Gigondas, which rivals Châteauneuf-du-Pape both in terms of quality and sometimes even in price.
The Beaucastel Gigondas is one of the stars of the line up for this event. It's smooth, silky and loaded with garrigue and Southern Rhône nuances which we adore.
Château de Beaucastel Gigondas 2015
91 - 93 Points Vinous "Ripe blackberry and cherry scents, along with suggestions of allspice, white pepper and succulent herbs. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors that firm up slowly with air. Clings with strong tenacity on the finish, which features building tannins and a strong echo of sweet blue fruit."
If that wasn't enough, we're busting out the big guns with the one and only, legendary Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape from one of the best vintages in recent history.
Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2015
97 Points James Suckling "This has a dark fruited, blueberry and blue plum nose with wide swinging tannins. Some white peppery elements, violets, brooding dark spices, blue fruits and dark plums. Builds from the ground up. Dark stones. Impressive, powerful wine... *Top 100 of 2017*"
97 Points Wine Spectator
"A stunner from the get-go, with waves of thoroughly seductive boysenberry, plum, blueberry and raspberry reduction forming the core, while roasted apple wood, rooibos tea, bergamot, and anise notes flash throughout. Has plenty of bass, with a Turkish coffee accent and a hint of alder driving underneath. Everything moves in lockstep through the seriously long finish."
And many more!
