A Blockbuster Top 100 Wine Available (And More!)

Today we have a blockbuster white wine which just happens to be ranked #19 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of Year. It wasn't an easy task to get our hands on this wine. Fortunately for us, we've supported this small production winery year in and year out, so they were kind enough to provide us with a small allocation which we're thrilled to share with you.

It's time to place our cards on the table though. We don't expect this wine to last for very long. Our shipment is scheduled to arrive this afternoon. Once it vanishes we'll have to wait for the new vintage to arrive which won't be for months. If this wine piques your interest then please email us right away and we'll set aside as much as we possibly can to fulfill your request, just as long as supplies last. This wine is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

And it's not just Wine Spectator that's bowled over by this wine. Here are a few quotes from other major wine press:

"Conveys a powerful impression of intensity without weight, like the best white Burgundies."

"A Chardonnay that is often South Africa's best."

Without further delay, here is your Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine of the Year, Rank #19.

Hamilton Russell Chardonnay 2012 (Walker Bay, South Africa)

Hamilton Russell Chardonnay 2012"Tightly wound, this exhibits a serious core of glazed pear, fig, apple, plantain and brioche notes, lined with mineral and honeysuckle hints and accented by nicely beaded acidity. This should be a beauty when it unwinds fully. Best from 2014 through 2020. 3,200 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)

"Wonderfully complex aromas of pear, wild herbs, sweet butter, smoke and tropical fruits; showed an iodiney minerality with air. Concentrated and harmonious but firm-edged, with brisk lemony acidity framing the very youthful flavors of stone fruits and minerals. Conveys a powerful impression of intensity without weight, like the best white Burgundies. Very young but smooth on the long, peach aftertaste. Outstanding potential here for a Chardonnay that is often South Africa's best." (Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar)

"This grows in the shale-clay soils above Walker Bay on the coast east of Cape Point. Hannes Storm ferments most of it in barrel, with small lots in clay amphorae and stainless steel. The Francois Freres oak richness is there in the aroma, but its main role is to point up the mellow earthiness of the wine, the grassiness of its pale cream flavors. The wine's youth shows in a hint of greenness in the finish, a note that touches on pear skin. This has the clarity and coastal freshness to sustain it in the cellar." (Wine & Spirits Magazine)

Enjoy!

P.S. -- A Few More Top 100's

We still have a very small quantity remaining of the following Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of the Year. Grab them for your cellar while you still can!

La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2004

A personal favorite!

"Cedar, tobacco and spice hints frame dried cherry, berry and vanilla notes in this silky red. The flavors mingle nicely, framed by juicy acidity and light but firm tannins. The wine has a lovely, weightless intensity. A fine example of the traditional style. Drink now through 2020." (Wine Spectator)

"The 2004 Vina Ardanza is a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha from 30-year-old vines in Fuenmayor and Cenicero. It is aged for 36 months in four-year-old American oak. It has a very enticing bouquet with dark cherry, Christmas cake, dried fig and espresso with fine delineation and bags of exuberance. The palate is medium-bodied with taut tannins, underpinned by a keen citric thread that cuts through the licorice-tinged, dark berry and allspice-tinged fruit with style. It is simply delicious on the bittersweet finish. Drink now-2020+" (Wine Advocate)

J.J. Vincent Marie Antoinette Pouilly-Fuisse 2011

One of our every-day "must have" Chardonnays. Graceful with restraint!

"Medium-weight and linear, exuding mineral and spice flavors, with a hint of lemon underneath, this bright white finishes long and spicy." (Wine Spectator)

Jolie-Pitt & Perrin Cotes de Provence Miraval Rose 2012

We weren't particularly star-struck by the names on the bottle, but we were rather awe-struck with the impressive bottle itself and what was in it. A seriously tasty treat!

"Refined and elegant, offering pure and concentrated flavors of dried red berry, tangerine and melon. The focused finish features flint and spice notes, with a hint of cream. Drink now. 15,000 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)
