Rare Top 100 Brunello Sporting 98, 95, 94, 93, 92 and 92 points!!!

In our household Brunello di Montalcino is King. Literally. We have more bottles in our collection from this wine appellation than any other in our wine cellar.

2013 was an exceptional vintage for Brunello, but there isn't much of it around because it was determined to be a very good, classic year and most of it has already sold out. In contrast, 2014 was one of the most challenging vintages in memory and you can really tell that in the wine, even in bottles from some of the most prestigious producers. After sampling through a range of 2014's, we are taking a hard pass on stocking 2014 Brunellos. Sadly, we're just going to have to wait this one out.

In spite of the sad news of 2014 being such a train wreck, we do have some incredible news. We came across VERY LIMITED and HIGHLY ALLOCATED stock on an exceptional 2013 from one of the best producers in the region. This is a one shot deal and there isn't much of it.

Not only did today's wine receive a Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2019 award, but it landed the #10 best spot in the world, of all wines, anywhere.

If that's not enough to get you excited, then how about this -- today's limited offering has received phenomenal press across the board from every major wine reviewer we follow. Wine Enthusiast: 98 points, Cellar Selection, Top 100 Wine of the Year #10; Wine Advocate: 95 points; James Suckling: 94 points; Vinous: 93 points; Wine Spectator: 92 points; and Decanter Magazine: 92 points. Phew!

Yes, you can expect a hefty price tag on this beauty but we can most definitely tell you it will be worth every penny. If you have an Italian wine cellar or you are an Italian wine collector, then the buck stops here. This is absolutely sensational wine.

And now for the press. Hold onto your hats!

Ciacci Piccolomini D'Aragona Pianrosso Brunello di Montalcino (DOCG) 2013

Ciacci Piccolomini D'Aragona Pianrosso Brunello di Montalcino (DOCG) 2013

"Wild berry, fragrant purple flower and crushed herb aromas mingle with whiffs of tilled earth and new leather in this dazzling red. The stunning, savory palate boasts remarkable finesse combined with an ageworthy structure, offering succulent black cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and tobacco alongside taut, refined tannins. It's impeccably balanced by bright acidity. It's already tempting, but hold for even more complexity. Drink 2021–2033." (Wine Enthusiast)

Wine Enthusiast: 98 points, Cellar Selection

Wine Enthusiast: Top 100 Cellar Selections 2019: Rank #10

"Although this wine is not labeled as a riserva, it is released six years after the harvest as if it were one. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso (with 20,000 bottles produced) opens to balanced fragrances that mix fruity elements with spice, crushed stone and smoke. This wine is linear and direct with firm tannic support at the back. Give it another few years to flesh out further with additional bottle aging." (Wine Advocate)

Wine Advocate: 95 points

"A wealth of coffee and spice aromas with ripe fruit. Full body and round tannins. Delicious and rich. Flavorful finish. Opulent style. Drink or hold." (James Suckling)

James Suckling: 94 points

"Exotically perfumed scents of red berry liqueur, Asian spices, potpourri and licorice, with a herbal quality adding lift. Big, rich and dense, with sappy cherry-cola and raspberry flavors picking up a refreshingly savory edge with air. Finishes long, showcasing excellent clarity and power." (Ian d'Agata, Vinous)

Vinous: 93 points

"Enticing, with warm, savory notes of cardamom, cinnamon and tobacco adding depth to the plum and mulled cherry flavors. Leather and iron accents emerge on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2036. 1,667 cases made, 833 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)

Wine Spectator: 92 points

"Elegant red fruit, oak, vanilla, coffee, forest floor and exotic spice nose and palate. The tannins are fine-grained and well integrated. Very persistent finish." (Decanter Magazine).

Decanter Magazine: 92 points
