We're heading to Spain for Friday's tasting! We'll be featuring these gorgeous wines.
Bodegas Naia Verdejo 2017
"A sleek, firm texture carries harmonious flavors of pear, mint, tarragon and mineral in this lively white. Shows balance and depth. Notes of vanilla and spice linger on the finish. Verdejo. Drink now through 2022. 4,500 cases made, 1,900 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)

Monteabellon Avaniel Ribera del Duero 2017
Avaniel comes from one of the youngest vineyards at the Monteabellon estate with vines within 6 and 10 years old. It is a very smooth and easy drinking red with lots of fresh fruit and vibrant acidity. A great companion to bring on a picnic or to a barbecue.
Capcanes Mas Donis Old Vines 2016
""The finest vintage of this cuvée to date, the 2016 Mas Donis Old Vines is 85% Garnacha and 15% Syrah (the Grenache comes from a single parcel called Donis) that was 70% destemmed and aged primarily in concrete. Tasting like a top Priorat with its beautiful blue fruits, violets, ground pepper, rose petals, and amble minerality, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, remarkable purity of fruit, and a great, great finish. Almost too good to be true, just pretend you paid more. Drink up." (Jeb Dunnuck)

Finca Villacreces Pruno 2016
"Always a good value in Ribera and cropped from a fresher year, the 2016 Pruno has notes of licorice, dark berries and even some fresher red fruit. It has abundant, fine-grained tannins that require powerful food." (Wine Advocate)

"Smoky and loamy earth notes frame a core of black cherry and plum in this firm, dense red. Balsamic acidity balances muscular tannins, which yield to a floral, minerally finish. Drink now through 2028. 40,000 cases made." (Wine Spectator)

Saturday, July 27, 3-5 p.m.
Next we're off to France for some of our very favorite wines in the store!
Novellum Chardonnay 2017
"The medium-bodied 2017 Novellum Chardonnay ages on Viognier lees for textural enrichment, plus 15% of the volume spends a month in new oak (the rest stays in steel). Pear and melon fruit up front give way to crisp notes of tinned pineapple on the finish." (Wine Advocate)
Wine Advocate: 85 - 87 points
Puech Haut Prestige Rose 2018
Please ignore the ugly new bottle (what were they thinking?!?) because this juice is rocking.
"Pretty, vibrant notes of white peach, white flowers, and salty minerality all emerge from the 2018 Prestige Rosé. Made in a crisp, elegant style, it stays balanced and layered on the palate, and is going to be an incredibly versatile rosé to drink over the coming 6-12 months. The blend is 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault brought up all in tank." (Jeb Dunnuck)

Puech Haut Prestige Rouge 2015
"The 2015 Saint Drezery Prestige is a ripe, sexy beauty that gives up full-bodied notes of black cherries, melted licorice and roasted herbs. Like all the wines from this estate, it has lots of richness and texture, yet stays balanced, lively and pure. It's a year in and year out value that's a no-brainer purchase. It will drink beautifully over the coming 4-5 years (possibly even longer)." (Wine Advocate)
Wine Advocate: 93 points
Domaine D'Andezon Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2016
"The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Andezon is 100% Syrah, aged entirely in tank. It's a lush, medium to full-bodied wine bursting with ripe blackberries and blueberries. No, it doesn't have the peppery spice of Syrah from the northern Rhône, but it does have enough cola-like spicy complexity to warrant an outstanding rating. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." (Wine Advocate)
Wine Advocate: 91 points
"Shows lovely purity from the get-go, with a stream of violet, raspberry and cassis aromas and flavors carried by a silky, racy structure. A flash of iron through the finish adds length and cut. Drink now through 2020." (Wine Spectator)
