Chateau Du Moulin-A-Vent Couvent des Thorins 2017 (France: Burgundy - Beaujolais) (ID# 3229)

Name Chateau Du Moulin-A-Vent Couvent des Thorins 2017 (ID# 3229)
Varietal Gamay
Region France: Burgundy - Beaujolais
Notes "Powerful cherry and blackberry aromas pick up smoky mineral and floral qualities as the wine opens up. Weighty, in the manner of the vintage, but showing very good energy as well, offering gently sweet black currant, cherry and violet pastille flavors that firm up slowly on the back half. Dusty tannins come in late on the finish, which hangs around with suave floral and spice notes. This wine is quite civilized both for the appellation and for the vintage." (Vinous)

Additional Notes

"Matured in two-year-old and older barrels this year, the 2017 Moulin-à-Vent Couvent des Thorins reveals aromas of ripe berry fruit, framed creamy oak lactones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a satiny attack, succulent acids and powdery tannins. It has turned out well in this challenging vintage." (Wine Advocate) "Licorice-tinged flavors of cherry compote and ripe raspberry are well-concentrated and backed by tangy, integrated acidity. Details of tea, herb and savory spice add interest through the lightly tannic finish. Drink now through 2022. 6,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)
