Badia a Coltibuono Montebello Toscana (IGT) 2013 (Italy: Tuscany) (ID# 3185)

Name Badia a Coltibuono Montebello Toscana (IGT) 2013 (ID# 3185)
Varietal Red Blend
Region Italy: Tuscany
Notes "Tight, dense tannins set the pace for the blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, iron and spice flavors in this powerful red. Tar and earth notes chime in as the stern tannins take over. Excellent potential for aging. Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Mammolo, Pugnitello, Fogliatonda, Malvasia Nera and Sanforte. Best from 2021 through 2035. " (Wine Spectator, Oct 2018)

Additional Notes

"The 2013 Montebello represents a crazy blend of indigenous grapes from Tuscany and Central Italy. You get Mammolo, Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Foglia Tonda, Malvasia Nera, Sanforte and Pugnitello. The blend offers medium weight and a nicely saturated ruby appearance. This wine has a little more power and textural richness compared to the more streamlined house style presented by Badia a Coltibuono in the lower-priced wines. There is some astringency here that needs to be integrated, but that added structure helps to cement the power and duration of the mouthfeel. Only 3,500 bottles were produced." (Wine Advocate, Oct 2017)
