Binomio (DOC) 2015 (Italy: Abruzzo) (ID# 2907)

Name Binomio (DOC) 2015 (ID# 2907)
Varietal Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Riserva
Region Italy: Abruzzo
Notes "Lightly juicy and well-knit, this medium- to full-bodied red layers creamy tannins and oak-tinged hints of spice and mocha with ripe black currant, licorice and dried herb flavors, while a tangy mineral note shows on the finish. Drink now through 2025. 1,500 cases made, 250 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)

Additional Notes

"The inviting nose and palate speak of tar, liquid dark fruit, herbs, oaky spices and tar, and the mouth follows along the same lines. Currently a little folded ion itself, but I wonder if the hot year didn’t contribute to a slight compression of fruit presence, as this could use a little more generosity of fruit in order to offer greater drinking pleasure. However, the tannins are very silky and refined, so I’ll give this the benefit of the doubt. Cellar for another couple of years and it will likely turn out for the better." (Ian D'Agata, Vinous) "This joint venture between Fattoria La Valentina in Abruzzo and Inama Azienda Agricola in Veneto offers aromas of baked cherry, mentholated herbs and a hint of soy on the nose. Rounded and silken in feel, the rich red fruit on the palate is bolstered by lifted acidity and fine, integrated tannins. These flavors are propelled along a pulsing river of acidity, with hints of herbs and earth chiming in. It's approachable now, but should hold well through 2025." (Wine Enthusiast)
