Varietal | Zinfandel | |||
Region | USA: CA - Sonoma County
Notes | "Extracted in dark blackberry and leather, there's a soft structure that makes this affordable wine work, leaving room for the peppercorn and dried herb so beloved in the variety." (Wine Enthusiast) "A jammy, zesty Zinfandel, with black raspberry, pepper and licorice flavors. Drink now through 2025. 40,000 cases made." (Wine Spectator)
Additional Notes "This is an outstanding value in Zinfandel. Sourced from some of the Gallo family’s better blocks of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, the 2014 Zinfandel is a blend of 93% Zinfandel and 7% Petite Sirah and is a large cuvée of 3,000 cases that offers terrific quality for its price point. It’s a big wine at 14.8% alcohol, dark ruby/purple in color, with notes of plums, briary blue and black fruits, some pepper, meat and roasted herbs. It is meant to be drunk upon release, but should certainly age decently for several years." (Wine Advocate) |
