Varietal | Chablis | |||
Region | France: Burgundy
Notes | "Pale, bright greenish-yellow. Pure, restrained aromas of lemon and lime accented by stony minerality. Ripe and fat but with lovely clarity of flavor and a saline element. Today I'd rather drink the Petit Chablis for its cut but this village wine is impressively broad and full, even if it's a bit inexpressive following the bottling." (Stephen Tanzer,Vinous)
Additional Notes "The 2015 Chablis Champ Royaux, which comes from purchased grapes, is mainly distributed throughout the United States; it sees a little oak ageing and has a light bruised apple and kiwi fruit scented bouquet. The palate is well balanced with a touch of nettle on the opening, fine acidity and moderate depth with an easy-drinking finish. One can see how this would be so popular in Stateside restaurants."
