Notes | "Still youthfully tight, this brims with tension as the long, minerally spine holds the core of yellow apple, star fruit and white peach flavors together. Shows serious cut and drive on the finish, with a mouthwatering echo of dried fennel seed. Best from 2018 through 2022. 5,125 cases made." (Wine Spectator) | |||
Additional Notes "The 2015 Dry Riesling comes in with four grams per liter of residual sugar, over eight of total acidity and 12.5% alcohol. Call it very dry. Owner-winemaker Morten Hallgren says that 65% of this is sourced from limestone soils, "rare in the Finger Lakes," as he explains further in the producer note to these wines. The blend of soils here is not quite as successful as the White Springs, also reviewed. They are both very dry, but this is pretty tart, a little mouth puckering. It shows good mid-palate finesse and a lively feel, though. It needs to come together and settle down a bit. At the moment, the acidity obscures the classic nuances of the grape. That should begin to change in time." (Wine Advocate) |
