La Valentina 2016 (Italy: Abruzzo)

Name La Valentina 2016
Varietal Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (DOC)
Region Italy: Abruzzo
Notes "Balanced and fresh, this medium-bodied red layers light, taut tannins with flavors of crushed blackberry, wild sage, citrus peel and mineral. Drink now through 2021. 17,500 cases made, 5,500 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)

Additional Notes

"Clean nose of red plum and cherry, plus a whiff of herbs and sweet spices. Then rich, round and ripe, but offering tactile flavors of red cherry and flint. Finishes only medium-long and almost thick; I found myself wishing for a little more drinkability. Still, this is an impressive entry-level wine." (Ian D'Agata, Vinous) "This predominately stainless-steel aged wine is delightfully fruit forward, with a bit of integrated spice in the background. A ripe dark cherry tone takes center stage, with juicy acidity and a healthy grip of tannins offering structure." (Wine Enthusiast)
