A "Go To" White and 5 Other Exciting New Wines
Today we have six very exciting wines to share with you, including our new “go to” white.
Saint Cosme Little James Basket Press Blanc 2010 (Southern Rhône, France)
Saint Cosme Little James Basket Press Blanc
It simply isn't possible to live without a good, aromatic and refreshing bottle of white wine in the refrigerator, ready to be tasted with an unexpected friend. Saint Cosme is sitting in our refrigerator for this very purpose. It's our new "go to" white.
This wine is a fascinating example of a new trend emerging in the Southern Rhône. This region has always been known for its aromatic and unctuous white wines, but now we're seeing more refreshing wines appear like this one.
"Ripe and focused, with a delicious core of Cavaillon melon and yellow apple liberally laced with mouthwatering quinine and honeysuckle notes that add length. Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne and Picpoul. 2,100 cases made." (Wine Spectator)
Wine Spectator: 90 points
$13.99/bottle or $134.30/12 pack case ($11.19/bottle) or just $11.19/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
Antonio Caggiano Bechar Fiano di Avellino 2009 (Campania, Italy)
Antonio Caggiano Bechar Fiano di Avellino 2009
This is a beguiling Fiano di Avellino, redolent with stony mineral undertones. Rock heads will be thrilled.
"Aromas of honey, stone fruits and minerals show enticing floral lift. Juicy and dry, with lovely brightness and intensity to the lemon, gin, chamomile and peach flavors. Lovely saline nuance on the long finish." (International Wine Cellar)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: 91 points

"Antonio Caggiano makes gorgeous wines that show the more refined side of Campania's indigenous grapes." (Wine Advocate)

$23.99/bottle or $115.15/6 pack case ($19.19/bottle) or just $19.19/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
Patient Cottat Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Loire Valley, France)
Patient Cottat Sauvignon Blanc
Think of this wine as a declassified Sancerre! It comes from the younger vines of a famous Sancerre producer. Its a rounder and fuller style of Sauvignon Blanc at a great price.
"Racy, with pink grapefruit, lemon zest and gooseberry notes all bouncing through the mouthwatering finish. 5,000 cases imported." (Wine Spectator)
Wine Spectator: 88 points
Wine Spectator: Best Values
$10.99/bottle or $105.50/12 pack case ($8.79/bottle) or just $8.79/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
Vindemio Imagine 2010 (Southern Rhône, France)
Vindemio Imagine 2010
This offering is a little surprising. We can't remember the last time we saw a 95 point wine sell for less than $25/bottle. Early 90's scores are thrown around quite a lot, but once you hit 94 points the game has changed to a much more serious nature.
This wine is highly allocated and difficult to obtain. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
"An absolutely outrageous value and a great wine in its own right, the equal part blend of Syrah and Grenache, the 2010 Vindemio Imagine, is also aged completely in concrete casks, This is an amazing wine, displaying notes of meat juices, spring flowers, black raspberries, blackberries and cassis.
Full-bodied, unctuously textured, rich and full, but with remarkable purity and freshness, this is a terrific effort from proprietor Jean Marot. Drink it over the next 5-7 years, although it could actually last a lot longer." (Wine Advocate)
Wine Advocate: 95 points!!!

$24.99/bottle or $239.90/12 pack case ($19.99/bottle) or just $19.99/bottle in a mixed case of wine.

Lafage Tessellae 2009 (Languedoc-Roussillon, France)
Lafage Tessellae 2009
We brought this wine in to temporarily replace the ever popular Lafage Cuvée Nicolas, which will be out of stock for a while.
"A Lafage 2009 Tessellae is Carignan, a third grown on galets roules east of Perpignan and the rest from schist at a spot between Perpignan and Maury. Slightly more stewed in fruit character than the corresponding Grenache (a.k.a. Cuvee Nicolas) this wine's blackberry and elderberry are mingled with toasted nuts and crushed stone." (Wine Advocate)

Wine Advocate: 89 points

$14.99/bottle or $143.90/12 pack case ($11.99/bottle) or just $11.99/bottle in a mixed case of wine.

Li Veli Primonero 2009 (Puglia, Italy)
Li Veli Primonero 2009
This delicious wine is 86% Negroamaro and 15% Primitivo. This fruit-packed blend is absolutely tasty.
"The 2009 Primonero (Primitivo, Negroamaro) is a delicate, mid-weight red with attractive bright fruit, expressive aromatics and an understated personality. This shows lovely balance, particularly for the money." (Wine Advocate)
Wine Advocate: 86 points
$10.99/bottle or $105.50/12 pack case ($8.79/bottle) or just $8.79/bottle in a mixed case of wine.
